Getting to Bhutan – Visa, Permits & Entry
All visitors to Bhutan (except those from India, Bangladesh, Maldives) need a tourist visa. The process is straightforward, though not instant. You cannot book a trip independently—all tourism is managed through licensed operators like us. This ensures all fees go to the government and supports Bhutan's conservation model.
Step 1: Visa Application ($40 USD)
You'll apply for an e-visa (online). Processing time: 2–3 working days. We handle this for you once you confirm your travel dates. You'll receive a PDF confirmation; print and bring it to the airport.
What You Need
- Valid passport (6+ months validity)
- Recent passport photo (digital upload)
- Completed online form (we guide you through this)
Step 2: Sustainable Development Fee (SDF)
Cost: $100 USD per person, per night
Children 6–12 pay $50. Under 6 are free.
This is Bhutan's conservation model. Since 1999, all tourists pay this fee. It funds healthcare, education, conservation, and infrastructure across Bhutan. It's non-negotiable and part of why Bhutan has preserved its environment and culture so well.
What Your Trip Includes
