This trek, also known as the Haa Planters’ Trail, takes you through the cultural heartland of Bhutan from the rice planters of Haa Valley to Paro, where labor was exchanged for red rice.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Haa to Sagala
5 km, 3 hours of hike, 480m ascent, camp altitude: 3150m. Begin your journey through the scenic Haa Valley, ascending to the historic trails used by yak herders, leading to your first campsite at Sagala.

Day 2: Sagala to Nyingungla
12 km, 5 hours of hike, 950m ascent, 250m descent, camp altitude: 3850m. Traverse through meadows and rhododendron forests to reach the top of a ridge with panoramic views, before descending to the camp at Nyingungla.

Day 3: Nyingungla to Chele La Pass
13 km, 6-7 hours of hike, 500m ascent, 360m descent. Descend through yak herder’s camps and climb to the sacred Kung Karpo Sky Burial before reaching the high Chele La Pass, where your vehicle awaits to take you to Paro.
